Art is in the soul of Alene Pettus, who pursued it early on in her education while studying with a local artist in Maine. After living several years in Boston where she had attended Mass. College of Art, she moved to Sarasota Florida to study at The Ringling College of Art and Design. Back to Boston she began working in the field of historic preservation on many Boston landmarks.
As a lifelong artist, Alene has mastered all aspects of decorative painting and finishes - from Venetian Plaster to gilding, from hand painting to custom stenciling. She has a natural artistic ability enabling her to confidently interpret a client’s or interior designer's direction. Alene brings her love of colors and textures energetically to every job, sharing in the client's enthusiasm and desire for an expression of their taste in the resulting space. Alene's innovative use of both classic and contemporary techniques has made her highly sought after as a consultant by designers and decorators for samples as well as well as projects.
APR's re:decor line has become an extension of her love for artistically painting furniture for clients and interior designers. Repurposing furniture and accessories is a passion of Alene’s, and is her distinctive way of continuously creating new and exciting art for people to enjoy.
